The Nelson Dairy Farm began its life as the Montague Dairy in the late 1890’s.  Ownership changed over the next few decades and then the small dairy was renamed for the Nelson family that grew the business into a sizeable operation with over 120 cows at its peak in the 1930’s.  As the Great Depression took hold, the dairy’s business began to decline, eventually ceasing in 1940.

Several interesting pieces of machinery used on the pastures and fields remain at the farm along with many of the original structures.

Today the 127 acre farm, owned by Suncadia LLC.,includes a two-story farm house, a log cabin a barn and various outbuildings that are being repurposed to provide a unique place for gathering, community events, sports and community garden.  The farm also includes open pastures, and two protected wetlands.

The Farm hosts many events such as the annual Harvest Festival, hay rides, sleigh rides and private weddings and meetings and classes.
