Quilt Block: Log Cabin

Farm History:
The Sorensen Family has been farming in the Kittitas Valley since 1910. This particular piece of farmland has been owned by them since 1953. The farm had previously been farmed by Earnest W. Wilson, Guy Murchland and Herman Johnson. The barn was built in approximately 1900, about the same time the Cascade Canal was built in 1902. The barn is still used for hay storage and has square nails as fasteners.

Lois Sorensen chose the ‘Log Cabin’ Quilt pattern because it has always been one of her favorites and she still enjoys making them.
